Independent Report – Today, the Speaker of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR). Puan Maharani, is scheduled to welcome Chinese Premier Li Qiang for an official visit. The two leaders plan to discuss ways to enhance the cooperation between Indonesia and China.
Premier Li Qiang will meet with Speaker Puan Maharani at the DPR building located in Senayan, Jakarta, this Sunday afternoon, May 25, 2025. Li Qiang, accompanied by several cabinet ministers from China. This will hold a bilateral meeting with Puan to discuss various collaborative matters.
Puan Maharani expressed that hosting the Chinese Premier at the Indonesian Parliament is a great honor. She highlighted the significance of this visit as it reflects the Chinese government’s intention to strengthen its relationship with the Indonesian people.
“The visit of Premier Li Qiang to the DPR building symbolizes the Chinese government’s desire to deepen ties with the Indonesian people.” Puan stated in a public announcement on Saturday, May 24, 2025.
Premier Li Qiang and his delegation are scheduled to arrive in Jakarta this afternoon, landing at the Halim Perdanakusuma Airbase. This visit marks a three-day official trip to Indonesia, from May 24 to May 26, 2025.
According to Puan, Li Qiang’s visit is expected to further solidify the bond between the two nations. Especially since 2025 marks the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Indonesia and China.
“This commemoration serves as a timely momentum to deepen the friendship and cooperation between Indonesia and China.” Said the chairperson of the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP).
Puan also reminded the public of the historical context of Indonesia-China relations by referring to the 70th anniversary of the Asian-African Conference (KAA) held in Bandung. She pointed out that cooperation between Indonesia and China dates back to this significant event. Where both countries worked together to promote the independence and freedom of many nations.

“The Bandung Spirit, or the 10 principles of the Asian-African Conference, remain relevant in today’s global dynamics. The strong relationship between Indonesia and China can serve as a firm foundation not only for bilateral cooperation but also for global collaboration,” Puan explained.
During their bilateral meeting on Sunday afternoon, Puan Maharani and Li Qiang are expected to discuss various important topics. These include political cooperation, economic partnerships, social and cultural exchanges, and parliamentary collaboration between the two countries.

Earlier on the same day, Premier Li Qiang is scheduled to meet with Indonesia’s President Prabowo Subianto at the Presidential Palace in the morning.
Puan concluded by assuring that the Indonesian House of Representatives is fully prepared to support the development of bilateral relations between Indonesia and China across various fields.
“The DPR stands ready to assist in advancing Indonesia-China relations in all sectors,” she affirmed.
