Independent Report – The Chairperson of the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P), Megawati Soekarnoputri, attended the closing ceremony of the briefing for regional heads and their deputies from her party. The event took place at the PDIP Party School in Lenteng Agung, South Jakarta, on Sunday, May 18, 2025. During the occasion, Megawati was scheduled to deliver political guidance to the briefing participants.
Megawati arrived at around 2:22 PM WIB, wearing a red and black outfit. Her arrival was warmly welcomed by party elites and regional heads from across Indonesia who were present. She was accompanied by her son, M. Prananda Prabowo, who also serves as the Chairman of the PDIP Central Executive Board (DPP).
The event was also attended by several PDIP DPP elites, including Deputy Treasurer Yuke Yurike, Party Honorary Board Chair Komarudin Watubun, and notable figures such as Ganjar Pranowo, Ahmad Basarah, and Bintang Puspayoga. Other prominent attendees included Ribka Tjiptaning P., Deddy Yevri Sitorus, Wiryanti Sukamdani, Djarot Saiful Hidayat, Yasonna Laoly, Basuki Tjahaja Purnama (Ahok), and Tonny Talapessy.
In his speech, Ganjar Pranowo emphasized the importance of maintaining solidarity and consolidation among PDIP cadres, especially after the regional elections victory. He urged all cadres to align their steps in carrying out the party’s political agenda and fulfilling promises made. He also stressed the value of mutual assistance and sharing experiences for regional progress.

Earlier, on the second day of the briefing at the Party School on Saturday, May 17, 2025, Megawati, along with the PDIP DPP and the party’s regional heads, gathered in unity. They raised their spirits by shouting “merdeka” (freedom) and giving the three-finger salute, a PDIP hallmark. After this session, Megawati and her son Prananda Prabowo listened to a briefing from the PDIP Chairperson who is also the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Puan Maharani.
After the presentation ended, Megawati, Puan Maharani, and Prananda Prabowo took photos together. The photo session with the regional heads was full of enthusiasm, symbolizing togetherness and party solidarity. The regional heads welcomed the moment with great spirit.
When giving her guidance, Megawati spoke firmly and straightforwardly. She delivered various messages in direct language but occasionally added subtle sarcasm. Despite this, the atmosphere was not stiff, as Megawati sometimes joked, making the regional heads smile and laugh. Even the PDIP DPP leaders sitting on the podium, including Puan Maharani, laughed at the jokes.
During the interactive session, Megawati also took attendance by asking regional heads whose names were called to stand up as a sign of presence and commitment. This showed her close and attentive leadership style toward her cadres.
Earlier, Puan Maharani’s closed-door briefing reminded regional heads to focus on implementing the best programs for the community. She emphasized that successful regional leadership must truly benefit the people.
The closing ceremony of this regional heads briefing became an important moment for PDIP to strengthen synergy among cadres and ensure they are ready to perform their duties optimally. Megawati’s presence, along with party elites, reaffirmed the party’s commitment to building solid leadership oriented toward public welfare.
With the guidance and enthusiasm given, it is hoped that PDIP regional heads can carry out their mandates responsibly and bring real progress to their regions. Cadre solidarity and party consolidation remain the main keys to facing future challenges. So that political promises can be realized well for the nation’s future.
