Independent Report – The Deputy Regent of Tangerang and a dedicated member of the Golkar Party, Intan Nurul Hikmah. She has officially declared her intention to run for the position of Chairperson of the Golkar Regional Leadership Council. The party’s leadership election is scheduled to take place in August 2025.
Intan expressed her readiness to step forward if given the trust and mandate by the party. She emphasized her commitment as a loyal cadre to take on this leadership role. “As a cadre, if entrusted and mandated to run, I will always be ready,” she stated on Thursday, May 15, 2025.
She highlighted the need for significant improvements within the Golkar organization at the regency level. Particularly in terms of infrastructure and human resources. If elected, Intan plans to prioritize the renovation of the Golkar Secretariat building. Which she described as outdated and in poor condition. She also intends to revive the party’s affiliated organizations, which have been inactive for several years.
According to Intan, the inactivity of these party wings has been noticeable since the departure of the former Chairperson, Ahmed Zaki Iskandar. She expressed concern about the dilapidated state of the office, mentioning that even the restrooms were in very poor condition. “Several wing organizations have been inactive since Pak Zaki stopped being the Chairperson. I will reactivate these groups and also improve the building; the restrooms are very dirty. And also the building itself is shabby,” she explained. Intan is also the younger sister of Ahmed Zaki Iskandar.

In addition to infrastructure improvements, Intan emphasized the importance of strengthening the capacity of Golkar cadres through training programs. She plans to reinstate the Training of Trainers (TOT) program to enhance the skills and professionalism of party members. This program is expected to improve public speaking and leadership abilities among the cadres, ultimately increasing the quality of the party’s human resources.
“We will reactivate the TOT program so that cadres become well-trained and develop better public speaking skills,” Intan said.
Currently, Intan has already begun consolidating support by communicating with the leadership of Golkar branches in various sub-districts throughout Tangerang Regency. She mentioned that she has established contact with around 20 sub-district party branches, particularly those that had previously expressed loyalty to the decisions made by the Golkar Central Executive Board (DPP).
“We have communicated with 20 sub-district branches, especially those who were obedient to the DPP’s decisions,” she added.
In a related development, Bahlul Ulum, Secretary of the Golkar Regional Leadership Council for Banten Province (DPD I), stated that the leadership elections for Golkar at the regency and city levels are likely to be held after the official appointment of the Banten provincial leadership by the DPP. He also referred to the party’s internal regulations regarding the requirements for candidates running for Chairperson positions.
“God willing, the leadership elections at the regency and city levels will be conducted after the Banten provincial leadership is officially appointed by the DPP. The candidate requirements are already stipulated in Golkar Party Guidelines No. 2 of 2005,” Bahlul explained.
Intan Nurul Hikmah announcement signals a competitive and active leadership race within Golkar in Tangerang Regency. Her focus on organizational revitalization and cadre development shows her commitment to strengthening the party’s foundation at the local level. With the upcoming election in August, many party members and observers will be watching closely to see how this leadership contest unfolds.
