Independent Report – According to recent data released by the Indonesian National Police (Polri). The number of criminal cases drop by 4.23 percent in Indonesia. The total number of reported crimes dropped from 339,537 cases in 2023 to 325,150 cases in 2024. This decline is seen as a positive development in the country’s law enforcement efforts.
In response to this trend, Deputy Chair of Commission III of the House of Representatives (DPR RI). Ahmad Sahroni, praised the leadership of the National Police Chief, General Listyo Sigit Prabowo. Sahroni commended the police force for their dedication and their ability to address public skepticism through tangible results. He stated that, despite various doubts in the past regarding the performance of the police. Polri has chosen to focus on working rather than defending themselves or seeking justifications.
Sahroni highlighted that the police have become more responsive in addressing a wide range of crimes. He emphasized that crime today is not only committed by known criminals but can also come from individuals considered trustworthy. Such as within families, schools, or workplaces. As an example, he pointed out incidents of sexual harassment involving family members, teachers, or school staff. As well as abuse by superiors in work environments and bullying among students.
Given the complexity and range of these challenges, Sahroni acknowledged the significant responsibility carried by the National Police. He asserted that under the leadership of General Sigit, these challenges have been effectively managed. According to him, the fact that such a variety of threats have been successfully reduced demonstrates the competence of the police leadership.

Further endorsement came from R. Haidar Alwi, founder of the Haidar Alwi Institute (HAI), who called General Listyo Sigit Prabowo the best police chief Indonesia has ever had. His statement coincided with General Sigit’s 56th birthday. Haidar praised Sigit for achieving greater internal security, improved public service. And also more equitable law enforcement throughout his term as police chief.
Haidar noted that the decline in crime cases is particularly impressive given the rising crime trends across the ASEAN region and globally. He cited data from the Organized Crime Index, which shows that many countries are facing increasing crime rates, making Indonesia’s success all the more notable.
He also referred to a study conducted by the International Police Science Association (IPSA) in collaboration with the Institute for Economics and Peace (IEP), released in 2023. According to the report, Indonesia’s police force ranked 63rd out of 125 countries. An improvement of 21 positions from its previous rank of 84 out of 127 countries. This ranking reflects improved public safety and internal security conditions within the country.
Haidar mentioned that Polri ranked third among all countries for one of the indicators in the study, surpassing even Denmark and Finland, which were among the top overall. This outcome not only signifies a remarkable improvement in police performance but also indicates a reduction in threats and security risks under Polri’s leadership.
Additional evidence supporting the success of Polri came from the Gallup Global Law and Order report in 2022. Indonesia ranked fifth out of 120 countries in terms of public safety perception, based on the survey’s global index.
Furthermore, the 2024 general and local elections were conducted with minimal conflict and without significant casualties, marking a stark contrast to previous electoral events. The absence of terrorist attacks in 2023 and 2024 also demonstrated the strength of domestic security enforcement.
In summary, the achievements under General Sigit’s leadership have not only earned him praise from political and civil leaders but have also contributed to a more stable and secure environment across Indonesia.
