Independent Report – The Chairman of the Golkar Party, Bahlil Lahadalia. He explained the reason for postponing the Regional Conference (Musda) of the Bali Golkar Party Regional Leadership Council (DPD). The delay was due to his duties as the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) in President Prabowo Subianto’s cabinet. He emphasized that the country’s interests must come first, so the Musda scheduled for Friday, May 23, 2025, had to be postponed.
Bahlil said he was busy attending a limited meeting, which made it impossible for him to attend the Bali Musda. Regarding the new schedule for the Musda, he stated that it would be announced later. He stressed that national interests must be prioritized before any party events could proceed.
Previously, the Bali Golkar DPD had announced the postponement of the Musda, which was not due to political reasons. This was conveyed by the Steering Committee of the 11th Golkar Party Musda in Bali, I Dewa Made Suamba Negara, in Denpasar. According to Made Suamba, the decision to postpone was only confirmed on the night of Tuesday, May 20, 2025. After receiving instructions from the central leadership. He emphasized that the postponement was not related to internal political tension but was because the Golkar Chairman wanted to attend Musda events in all provinces.
In response to rumors about pressure on the Bali Golkar DPD Chair, Nyoman Sugawa Korry. Especially from senior politician Gede Sumarjaya Linggih, Made Suamba denied any issues. He confirmed that although there would be competition for the chair position, relations between senior politicians remain good. Each candidate has a respectful way of competing. Made Suamba also said that the Musda preparations were nearly complete. This included booking the venue at the Grand Hyatt Nusa Dua, sending invitations, and preparing rehearsals and candidate registration.

However, information was received at 11:45 PM Central Indonesia Time the previous night stating that Golkar Chairman Bahlil Lahadalia could not attend. Based on the central leadership’s instructions and out of respect, the Bali Musda had to be postponed. Made Suamba added that Bahlil was committed to attending Musda events in all 38 provinces. So far, he has attended many provincial Musdas, but on May 23-24, Bahlil was scheduled to be in West Nusa Tenggara (NTB), which prevented him from being in Bali.
The Chair of the 11th Bali Golkar Musda Committee, Komang Suarsana, said that no new date for the Musda had been set. The postponement meant that the committee could not confirm when the Musda would take place again. Regarding candidates for the chair position, Suarsana explained that registration usually opens one day before the Musda. So, no official candidates have registered yet.
Suarsana added that after registration opens, the committee will verify the candidates’ names. Candidates must have support from at least 30 percent of the voting members. This is why there are many rumors about the competition for the Bali Golkar DPD chair position.
This postponement shows the importance of prioritizing national interests by a party chairman who is also a government minister. The decision was carefully made to ensure the smooth and proper running of Musda across provinces. Golkar Bali members and administrators have cooperated well by following instructions from the central leadership. They are ready to welcome the rescheduled Musda.
Therefore, the process to elect the Bali Golkar DPD chair will continue at a suitable time. The postponement is expected not to affect party unity. It also aims to maintain a spirit of internal democracy to select a leader who will advance the party in Bali. Golkar Bali leaders and members remain committed to supporting party programs according to rules and guidance from the central leadership for the greater good of the nation.
