Independent Report – Indonesia will host the 19th PUIC Conference of the Parliamentary Union of OIC Member States (PUIC) from May 12–15, 2025, at the Parliament Complex in Jakarta. The Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI), through the Inter-Parliamentary Cooperation Agency (BKSAP), has prepared several strategic agendas. One of the main issues to be discussed is strengthening support for Palestine’s independence.
BKSAP member, Eva Monalisa, stated that Indonesia aims to encourage stronger solidarity from PUIC member countries towards Palestine’s struggle. She mentioned this after meeting the Palestinian government delegation at the Parliament Complex on May 7. As part of the preparations, the DPR RI signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the PUIC Secretariat in February 2025. The MoU covers technical and logistical preparations for the conference.

The technical preparations are nearly 100% complete. Coordination has been conducted with immigration, customs, Angkasa Pura, and AirNav Indonesia. Secretary-General of DPR RI, Indra Iskandar, emphasized that technical readiness is well on track. All related agencies have confirmed their roles, and simulations and checks have been carried out with a Professional Conference Organizer (PCO).
Indra added that the technical evaluation has been reported to the DPR RI leadership, including the readiness of session materials. The conference will cover global issues relevant to OIC member states, with Palestine as a priority topic. 23 countries have confirmed their participation, with 279 delegates confirmed. The number of participants is expected to grow, as several countries are still in the confirmation process.
The conference is expected to host between 500 and 600 people, including official delegates and representatives from international organizations. The opening ceremony will be officially conducted by Indonesian President, Prabowo Subianto. Indra highlighted that the conference is a significant moment to strengthen Indonesia’s position in inter-parliamentary diplomacy within the Islamic world.
This event also serves as an opportunity for Indonesia to assert its diplomatic role on the global stage. Indonesia aims to show its commitment to international issues, especially supporting Palestine’s independence. Additionally, the conference is an important platform to reinforce solidarity among OIC member countries. Successful execution of this conference will highlight Indonesia’s role in fostering international cooperation, particularly in the ongoing Palestine struggle.
