Independent Report – The Indonesian National Police has confirmed that the legal process regarding the ITB student identified as SSS. Who became a suspect for uploading an inappropriate meme featuring Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto and the 7th President Joko Widodo. He has followed the proper legal procedure.
According to the police, the investigation was carried out by the Cyber Crime Directorate (Dittipidsiber) of the Criminal Investigation Unit (Bareskrim) of the Indonesian National Police, before the detention of SSS was suspended on Sunday, May 11, 2025.
Brigadier General Pol. Trunoyudo Wisnu Andiko, the Head of the Public Information Bureau (Karopenmas) of the Public Relations Division of Polri. He assured that the investigation followed a procedural, proportional, and professional approach. He also emphasized that SSS was accompanied by legal counsel to ensure accountability throughout the process.
The case began with a police report filed on March 24, 2025, under report number LP/B/159/III/2025/SPKT. Dittipidsiber initiated the investigation on April 7, 2025. During the investigation, three witnesses were questioned, and five experts were consulted for their opinions. Additionally, the police confiscated evidence from both the suspects and the witnesses. The collected evidence was then analyzed using digital forensics to confirm its authenticity.
On May 6, 2025, the police arrested SSS, who allegedly violated the Information and Electronic Transactions (ITE) Law by manipulating or creating electronic documents or images that appeared to be authentic. She was also accused of uploading a document or image containing offensive material that violated decency laws.
SSS was initially detained from May 7, 2025, until May 11, 2025, when her detention was suspended. The police granted the suspension based on a request from her legal counsel and family. This decision was also influenced by the sincerity shown by SSS and her family in apologizing for the incident, acknowledging the disruption caused by the meme.

Brigadier General Pol. Trunoyudo explained that the suspension of detention was made based on humanitarian considerations, allowing SSS to continue her studies. The police’s approach was intended to provide her with an opportunity for rehabilitation. While also ensuring the legal process remained fair.
Furthermore, SSS personally apologized to President Prabowo Subianto, former President Joko Widodo, and the management of ITB for her actions. She expressed regret for her behavior and promised not to repeat it in the future.
