Independent Report – PKB Jazilul Fawaid urges against politicizing the visit of President Prabowo’s ministers to Jokowi’s residence during Eid 2025. Speaking to the press on Tuesday, April 15, 2025. Jazilul emphasized that the public should be able to distinguish between political events and traditional Eid gatherings. “There is no need to politicize the halalbihalal. The public can assess for themselves which events are political and which are merely halalbihalal,” he said.
Jazilul further clarified that there are no restrictions on officials engaging in silaturahmi (social visits). Or celebrating Eid with anyone, regardless of their political affiliations. “It is allowed for everyone to participate in halalbihalal,” he added.
Similarly, the Speaker of the People’s Representative Council (DPR). Puan Maharani, also weighed in on the situation, asserting that there is no concept of a “twin sun” in the government. She reiterated that there is only one president in Indonesia, which is Prabowo Subianto. Puan made this statement in response to concerns about the potential overlap of presidential authority following the visits of Prabowo’s ministers to Jokowi. “There is only one president now, and that is President Prabowo Subianto.” Puan declared at the Senayan Parliamentary Complex in Jakarta on Monday, April 14, 2025.
Puan emphasized that there should be no misunderstanding regarding the visits, including the one made by Prabowo’s ministers to Jokowi. She stated that such visits should not be viewed as an indication of a “twin sun” scenario in the government. “Silaturahmi during Eid is a positive and welcome practice,” she added.
The debate over the so-called “twin sun” arose after several ministers from President Prabowo Subianto’s administration visited President Jokowi during the Eid period. Among those who visited Jokowi were the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM). Bahlil Lahadalia, on Tuesday, April 8, 2025, followed by the Coordinating Minister for Food, Zulkifli Hasan, the next day. Later, Minister of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries, Sakti Wahyu Trenggono, and Minister of Health, Budi Gunadi Sadikin, also visited Jokowi.
Mardani Ali Sera, the Chairman of the Central Executive Board of the Prosperous Justice Party (PKS). Warned that the presence of these ministers at Jokowi’s residence could lead to the emergence of a “twin sun” situation in the government. He stated that while silaturahmi is important, it should not be misconstrued as a political move. “First and foremost, silaturahmi is always good, but secondly, we should avoid any situation that creates a ‘twin sun.” Mardani said in a statement on Friday, April 11, 2025.

In response to these concerns, the Head of the Presidential Communication Office (PCO). Hasan Nasbi, firmly rejected the notion of a “twin sun” in Prabowo’s administration. He clarified that the visits of the ministers to Jokowi were purely for the purpose of silaturahmi and were not politically motivated. He urged the public to avoid reading political meanings into these social visits, especially considering the context of the 2025 Eid celebrations. “Eid silaturahmi should not be tainted with political interpretations. We are still in the festive season of Eid, and the aim is to strengthen brotherhood and relationships.” Hasan stated in an interview with Liputan6.com on Monday, April 14, 2025.
Hasan further emphasized that President Prabowo Subianto had no objections to his ministers maintaining friendly ties with former presidents, including Jokowi. “Why should there be an issue? It’s just a matter of Eid silaturahmi,” he concluded.
The back-and-forth over the interpretation of these visits highlights the delicate balance in Indonesian politics as the country navigates the post-election landscape. While some parties view the visits as a natural part of the traditional Eid celebrations. Others see them as potential political maneuvers. The debate over the “twin sun” has added another layer of complexity to the already intense political climate. Different factions interpreting the actions of government officials in varying ways.
The issue has sparked wider discussions on the relationship between the presidency and its ministers, as well as the potential for political conflicts to arise even in the most routine of interactions. As the political atmosphere continues to evolve, the actions of Indonesia’s leaders will likely remain under close scrutiny.
