Independent Report – Ahmad Muzani, the Secretary-General of the Gerindra Party. He has revealed the reason why President Prabowo Subianto has yet to visit President Jokowi for the traditional Lebaran greeting. In the meantime, Prabowo has already visited Megawati Soekarnoputri, the Chairperson of the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP).
According to Ahmad Muzani, there have been multiple occasions where Prabowo met with both Jokowi and Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY). The last meeting between Prabowo and Jokowi occurred during a shared iftar dinner, and the two leaders also met during the previous Lebaran. However, Prabowo has not yet visited Jokowi for the Lebaran greeting this year. Ahmad Muzani explained that Prabowo would likely visit both Jokowi and SBY after returning from his current overseas trip. “Insha Allah, Prabowo will meet with Jokowi and SBY in the near future after his visit to the Middle East.” Ahmad Muzani said on Wednesday, April 9, 2025, at the Senayan Parliamentary Complex in Jakarta.
Previously, Muzani had also mentioned that there was no information regarding a potential return visit from Megawati Soekarnoputri to Prabowo’s residence. He stated that the recent meeting at Megawati’s residence was more than enough to satisfy the longing of the two old friends who had not met for a long time. Muzani emphasized that the meeting between Prabowo and Megawati had a positive reception not only within the internal parties of Gerindra and PDIP but also among all the parties in the ruling coalition. “Every meeting is viewed positively, not just by the public, but also by all the coalition parties. The President has the authority to meet with anyone, especially former presidents who are also leaders of major political parties. Therefore, Prabowo sees this as part of strengthening the government,” he said.
Muzani also shared some insights from Megawati during their meeting. He mentioned that one of her key recommendations was to ensure that the current government led by Prabowo has a positive impact on the lives of the Indonesian people and the nation as a whole. Muzani highlighted that the suggestions were aimed at improving the effectiveness of the administration and creating long-term benefits for the people of Indonesia.

Meanwhile, PDIP warmly welcomed the meeting between Prabowo and Megawati. Mohamad Guntur Romli, the spokesperson for the PDIP DPP. Explained that Prabowo’s visit to Megawati’s residence was part of the Lebaran silaturahmi tradition. “In their private meeting, both Megawati and Prabowo discussed personal matters as two long-time friends and national figures.” Said Guntur on Wednesday, April 9, 2025. According to Guntur, the one-and-a-half-hour meeting between the two leaders led to an agreement to continue their communication and collaboration in the future. Particularly on national and international issues that could affect the welfare and future of the Indonesian people.
Guntur also explained that the visit was unplanned and spontaneous, though Prabowo and Megawati had been intending to meet for some time. Due to their busy schedules, it had taken a while for them to arrange a meeting. “Although the visit was impromptu, both Megawati and Prabowo had long planned to meet. However, due to their respective commitments, this was the first time they could make it happen,” Guntur added.
Following the meeting, Guntur emphasized that Megawati had always felt no barriers in maintaining communication with Prabowo. Despite PDIP’s current position outside of the government, Megawati has often expressed her willingness to continue engaging with Prabowo. “On numerous occasions, Megawati has stated that she does not face any obstacles in communicating and maintaining a relationship with President Prabowo,” Guntur remarked. He also noted that their discussions went beyond personal matters and touched on strategic national issues. These discussions were aimed at addressing concerns related to the safety and welfare of the people within the framework of Indonesia’s Pancasila ideology.
In conclusion, the meeting between Prabowo and Megawati was not only a warm personal reunion but also a reaffirmation of their commitment to maintaining communication and collaboration for the benefit of Indonesia’s future. Both leaders are focused on ensuring that their efforts contribute to the greater good of the nation.
