Independent Report – The National Mandate Party (PAN) has reaffirmed its support for the idea of a permanent coalition with the Great Indonesia Movement Party (Gerindra) as proposed by President Prabowo Subianto.
This statement was made by PAN Secretary-General Eko Hendro Purnomo, also known as Eko Patrio. During a press conference at the PAN headquarters in South Jakarta. Eko emphasized that PAN’s commitment to Prabowo and Gerindra remains steadfast.
“Will we continue our alliance with Mr. Prabowo? I can assure you, 100% yes,” Eko told reporters on Thursday, March 6, 2025.
Eko highlighted that PAN has stood alongside Prabowo and his party for 15 years. He also expressed confidence that every policy decision made by Prabowo is in the best interest of the Indonesian people.
“PAN has been a loyal ally, a true companion for the past 15 years. Every decision made by Mr. Prabowo is something we support. As it aligns with our commitment to the people and our country,” Eko stated.
Adding to this, PAN Deputy Chairman Viva Yoga urged the public not to question the party’s loyalty to Prabowo and Gerindra. He pointed out that the long-standing alliance reflects a shared vision and mission.
“There is no need to doubt us. We have been in coalition with Gerindra for 15 years because we share the same vision. We are not just allies in politics; we are brothers in ideology,” Viva asserted.
Viva also suggested that instead of questioning PAN’s commitment. Attention should be directed toward other parties that have not remained loyal to Prabowo and Gerindra. He emphasized that PAN fully supports the idea of a permanent coalition.
“The real question should be directed at those parties that have not been consistent in their support for Mr. Prabowo. If you ask whether PAN agrees with the idea of a permanent coalition with Gerindra, our answer is a resounding yes,” he concluded.

The discussion about a permanent coalition emerged after Prabowo gathered leaders of political parties from the Indonesia Forward Coalition (KIM) Plus at Garuda Yaksa Hall in Hambalang, Bogor, West Java, on Friday, February 14, 2025. During the meeting, Prabowo proposed a long-term alliance with the goal of maintaining national unity.
This idea has been met with a positive response from several KIM Plus leaders. Many of them support the coalition’s continuation through the 2029 Presidential Election.
Prabowo recently received a mandate from the Extraordinary Congress (KLB) of the Gerindra Party, held in Hambalang on Thursday, February 13, 2025, to run again in the 2029 election.
Political analyst Adi Prayitno from Syarif Hidayatullah State Islamic University Jakarta argues that Prabowo promotes the idea of a permanent coalition. To secure political backing for his strategic programs and to prevent internal divisions.
“The coalition’s main purpose is to ensure that the political support for Prabowo’s administration remains solid. It also seeks to prevent any parties from maneuvering or defecting midway, which could be detrimental to the coalition’s stability,” Adi stated in an interview with Liputan6.com on Monday, February 17, 2025.
Members of KIM Plus have responded positively to the idea of a permanent coalition, especially since Prabowo-Gibran’s cabinet is still in its early stages.
“Currently, all coalition parties remain committed to Prabowo Subianto. However, the key question is whether this coalition will last only until 2029 or extend into the second term from 2029 to 2034,” he noted.
Adi, who is also the Executive Director of Prameter Politics Indonesia, predicts that the coalition will likely remain intact for one term. However, he is uncertain whether it will survive until the 2029 elections. He also pointed out that the Constitutional Court recently eliminated the 20% presidential nomination threshold, which could affect political strategies.
“If Prabowo seeks a second term, political parties within KIM Plus will reevaluate their options. Many of them may still have ambitions to put forward their own candidates for the presidency and vice presidency. Because parties field their own candidates during the simultaneous presidential and legislative elections, they could benefit from the coat-tail effect,” Adi explained.
