Independent Report – Deputy Chairman of the Golkar Party, Idrus Marham, shared his thoughts on the significance of Ramadan with the party’s Chairman, Bahlil Lahadalia. According to Idrus, Ramadan serves as an opportunity to promote acts of service and meaningful contributions to society.
“In religious terms, this is a movement for righteous deeds, a movement for ‘Fastabiqul Khairat,’ where practical applications in the field may vary depending on the needs and issues faced by different communities,” Bahlil told the media in Jakarta on Monday, March 3, 2025.
Bahlil emphasized that the party’s Chairman has instructed all Golkar members, especially those serving in the executive branch, to actively engage with their communities during Ramadan. This directive applies to ministers, deputy ministers, governors, deputy governors, regents, deputy regents, mayors, deputy mayors, and legislative members at all levels. He urged them to use Ramadan as a time to reconnect with their electoral districts and not limit their visits to election seasons.
“This outreach must be continuous. Those with electoral districts must return to their communities, not only when elections are near but consistently throughout the year. The momentum of Ramadan should be fully utilized,” Idrus said.
He reiterated Bahlil’s message, stating that the Chairman is committed to advancing acts of service and charitable efforts. “Once again, our Chairman, Bahlil, is leading this initiative to encourage meaningful contributions. This includes charitable actions, righteous deeds, and efforts to promote ‘Fastabiqul Khairat’—spreading goodness and leaving lasting contributions for the benefit of society,” he added.
Idrus confirmed that Bahlil would embark on a Ramadan safari to several regions, covering major islands such as Java, Sumatra, Kalimantan, and Sulawesi. He will also visit eastern regions, including West Nusa Tenggara (NTB), East Nusa Tenggara (NTT), Maluku, North Maluku, and Papua. The primary goal of this journey is to engage in direct dialogue with communities and strengthen relationships with local residents.
“The Chairman will personally visit several regions, engaging with community members and local leaders. In addition to his role as Golkar’s Chairman, he will also address his responsibilities as a Minister by assessing the people’s needs, including concerns related to the distribution of subsidized LPG (gas melon) and fuel availability,” Idrus explained.

He stressed that these interactions would allow the government to better understand the daily challenges faced by citizens. By gathering firsthand insights, Bahlil aims to ensure that policies align with public needs, fostering better governance and social support.
The Ramadan safari will involve meaningful conversations with religious figures, community leaders, and grassroots organizations. These discussions will provide a platform for residents to voice their concerns and offer suggestions for improvements in public services. Bahlil believes that listening to the people is essential for making impactful changes.
Furthermore, Idrus emphasized that this initiative is not merely a political agenda but a commitment to public service. By actively participating in community outreach during Ramadan, Golkar members aim to demonstrate their dedication to the people beyond election periods.
Bahlil’s tour will include visits to mosques, community centers, and local gatherings. He will take part in charitable activities such as food distribution, support for small businesses, and educational assistance programs. These efforts are expected to strengthen social ties and enhance collaboration between the government and the public.
The Golkar Party sees Ramadan as an ideal time to reinforce values of solidarity, compassion, and collective progress. Through direct engagement and service-oriented actions, the party seeks to establish a deeper connection with the people and address their pressing concerns.
By prioritizing real contributions over political rhetoric, Bahlil hopes to set an example for leaders at all levels. Idrus reiterated that the initiative aligns with Golkar’s core values, emphasizing tangible results over mere promises.
As the Ramadan safari unfolds, Bahlil and his team will continuously assess the impact of their efforts. By integrating public feedback into policymaking, they aim to create more effective solutions for the nation’s socio-economic challenges. This approach reflects Golkar’s vision of leadership that listens, responds, and acts in the best interest of the people.
Ultimately, this initiative seeks to inspire a broader movement of community engagement and responsible governance. By fostering direct interactions and delivering tangible support, Bahlil and his team hope to strengthen public trust and encourage meaningful participation in nation-building.
