Independent Report – The Ministry of Defense (Kemhan) has ensured that humanitarian assistance provided by the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) to earthquake victims in Myanmar will continue, despite the ongoing political conflict in the country. Deputy Minister of Defense, Donny Ermawan, emphasized that TNI is committed to successfully carrying out this humanitarian mission. Unaffected by the political situation in Myanmar.
Donny explained that one of the measures taken to ensure the safety of TNI personnel deployed in Myanmar is the dispatch of a security team. This team will be tasked with safeguarding the personnel who are helping the earthquake victims to ensure their safety. “We will assess how many security personnel are needed to ensure the safety of those carrying out tasks in the disaster area.” Said Donny when releasing personnel and logistics aid at Halim Perdanakusuma Airbase in East Jakarta on Monday, March 31, 2025.
A total of 39 TNI personnel were dispatched that day to carry out the humanitarian mission. These personnel are from various TNI corps, such as Kopassus, Marines, Kopasgat, and Hercules aircraft pilots. Donny stated that the logistics delivery would not be hindered despite the ongoing conflict in Myanmar. This assurance comes from the coordination between TNI, the Myanmar government. And also the ASEAN Coordinating Centre for Humanitarian Assistance on Disaster Management (AHA Centre).

The Deputy Minister of Defense also stressed that TNI will not interfere in the political issues or the ongoing conflict in Myanmar. “What we uphold is the principle that the people of Indonesia are helping the people of Myanmar,” Donny said. He added that the aid provided is purely humanitarian and unrelated to political interests.
The tasks to be carried out by the TNI personnel deployed to Myanmar include providing medical care for the injured. Establishing humanitarian and health posts, and assisting in the search for missing victims. In addition, the TNI team will distribute food, medicine, tents. And also other supplies to help alleviate the burden of the earthquake victims.
Donny hopes that the assistance provided by Indonesia will offer some relief to the people of Myanmar affected by the natural disaster. He also emphasized the importance of maintaining the spirit of mutual cooperation and solidarity between countries. Especially in disaster situations like this. The Indonesian government, through the TNI is committed to continuing its active role in helping disaster victims abroad as part of its efforts to strengthen international relations based on humanitarian principles.
