Independent Report – Meanwhile, Rano Karno leaves for Magelang tonight to attend the regional heads retreat at the Indonesian Military Academy (Akmil) in Magelang, Central Java, following the arrival of Governor of Jakarta, Pramono Anung, who reached the location on Monday, February 24, 2025.
The retreat began on Friday, February 21, 2025, and 503 newly appointed regional heads from across Indonesia. Including governors, mayors, and regents, attended the event. President Prabowo Subianto swore in these officials on Thursday, February 20, 2025.
However, on the evening of Thursday, February 20, 2025. PDI Perjuangan Chairperson Megawati Soekarnoputri issued an instruction letter, which she personally signed.
In this letter, Megawati requested that all PDI Perjuangan cadres serving as regional heads postpone their journey to the Akmil retreat in Magelang. As a result, not all PDI Perjuangan cadres holding regional positions arrived at Akmil on Friday, February 21. However, by Monday, February 24, several of them decided to attend the retreat.
Previously, Rano Karno responded to the invitation for the retreat’s closing ceremony. Which included an invitation for deputy regional heads to attend in Magelang on February 27, 2025.
Rano confirmed that the Ministry of Home Affairs (Kemendagri) had indeed invited him to attend. “I have been invited on February 27. Just to clarify, deputies are invited only for the closing event,” Rano explained.

Earlier, PDI Perjuangan DPP spokesperson Ahmad Basarah said that they had reported Governor Pramono Anung’s. Attendance at the regional heads retreat in Magelang to PDI Perjuangan Chairperson Megawati Soekarnoputri, and she had approved it.
“The Chairperson and the DPP PDI Perjuangan management have acknowledged and received the report about Mr. Pramono Anung’s and other PDI Perjuangan regional heads’ attendance,” Basarah said during a press conference at the PDI Perjuangan DPP office in Jakarta on Tuesday, February 25, 2025.
Basarah emphasized that Pramono Anung, as the Governor of Jakarta, had received a specific assignment from Megawati to coordinate the regional heads from PDI Perjuangan. He had communicated and coordinated with the government, especially with the Minister of Home Affairs and the Vice Minister of Home Affairs, regarding the logistics and details of the retreat.
“In carrying out technical measures on the ground, Mr. Pramono Anung has continuously communicated and coordinated with PDI Perjuangan Chairperson, Mrs. Megawati Soekarnoputri, as well as other DPP Party officials,” he added.
The regional heads’ retreat at Akmil in Magelang serves as a significant event for newly appointed leaders across Indonesia.
