PUIC Endorses Jakarta Declaration for Palestine Support

Independent Report – The Chairperson of Indonesia’s Parliament, Puan Maharani, led a meeting. This meeting approved the results of the 19th PUIC Conference. PUIC is the Parliamentary Union of OIC member states. The forum discusses important issues among Islamic countries. One main topic was the situation in Palestine.

Puan Maharani Leads PUIC Meeting

At the closing session, two key agendas were discussed. These included final report implementation and Jakarta Declaration approval. Jakarta Declaration is a resolution adopted by all PUIC members. It contains important political and humanitarian decisions.

Before approval, Puan asked Mardani Ali Sera to read the draft. Mardani Ali Sera is the Chair of Indonesia’s Parliamentary Cooperation Body. After reading, Puan asked for the delegates’ approval. The delegates unanimously agreed to adopt the Jakarta Declaration.

Puan then struck the gavel, making the Declaration official. She thanked Allah and honored the delegates’ participation. Jakarta Declaration includes resolutions that all OIC parliaments must adopt. A key point is strong support for Palestine’s independence.

Strong Support for Palestine’s Independence

The forum firmly supports Palestine’s right to self-determination. It demands Israel stop attacks on Gaza and nearby areas. The Declaration also rejects forced relocation of Palestinian people. This echoes Puan’s earlier statements during the conference opening.

The Declaration calls on members to impose sanctions on Israel. It encourages isolating Israel politically and economically. This aims to pressure Israel over human rights violations. PUIC urges governments to coordinate diplomatic efforts globally.

They focus on multilateral forums such as the United Nations. The Declaration highlights two International Court of Justice opinions. It calls on the ICC to complete war crimes investigations. Accountability for Israel’s actions is crucial for justice.

Indonesia’s Role and Message

Humanitarian aid to Palestinians should continue, including via UNRWA. The Declaration reinforces commitment to helping Palestinians in need. Indonesia hosts this important forum, playing a strategic role. The Declaration symbolizes Islamic unity for Palestine’s justice and peace.

Puan Maharani emphasizes Indonesia’s firm support for Palestine’s freedom. Indonesia’s position aligns with international law and human rights. The Declaration expects OIC countries to work together closely. They aim for peaceful solutions based on legal principles.

Jakarta Declaration sends a clear message that Islamic countries unite. Their goal is Palestinian independence and welfare for all people.
