Independent Report – Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung discussed several key issues during his visit to the residence of PDI-P Chairperson Megawati Soekarnoputri as part of the Idul Fitri 1446 Hijri celebrations. His visit took place after attending the open house event hosted by President Prabowo Subianto at the Merdeka Palace.
Pramono stated that he and Megawati talked about various pressing concerns affecting Jakarta. These included flooding, traffic congestion, waste management, the distribution of Jakarta Smart Cards (KJP), and welfare assistance for persons with disabilities and senior citizens. He expressed confidence that most of these issues had been addressed appropriately.
Among the topics discussed was the potential tidal flood, which had been predicted by the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB). According to forecasts, the flooding was expected to occur between March 28 and April 2, 2025. Pramono assured that his administration had taken proactive measures to mitigate the impact.
He highlighted that more than 500 water pumps had been deployed across the city to manage potential flooding. Additionally, embankments in certain areas had been elevated to strengthen flood defenses. One of the key mitigation efforts included the construction of a 2.5-meter-high main embankment in Muara Angke, which was expected to play a crucial role in preventing tidal flooding.

Reflecting on past challenges, Pramono emphasized his experience in handling flood situations. He recalled dealing with both upstream floods and tidal floods and expressed gratitude that the latter had been managed effectively in recent years.
Earlier in the day, Pramono performed the Idul Fitri prayer at the Istiqlal Mosque on Monday, March 31, 2025. He was joined by President Prabowo Subianto in a rare public moment that was later shared on social media.
Pramono wore a white Shanghai-collared shirt, a dark steel-colored blazer, and a red checkered sarong. His look was completed with a black peci cap, symbolizing traditional Indonesian attire for religious occasions. Meanwhile, President Prabowo kept his appearance modest, donning a plain white Shanghai-collared shirt, matching trousers, and a black peci cap. The two leaders exchanged warm greetings and handshakes, embodying the spirit of togetherness and celebration during the festive season.
Their meeting underscored the importance of unity and collaboration in addressing Jakarta’s challenges. The discussions between Pramono and Megawati further demonstrated a commitment to ensuring the welfare of the city’s residents. By focusing on critical issues such as flooding and social welfare, the Jakarta administration aims to enhance the quality of life for all citizens.
As Jakarta continues to develop, proactive governance remains essential in tackling both environmental and social concerns. The city’s ability to anticipate and respond to potential disasters reflects the dedication of its leadership. With continued efforts, Jakarta hopes to maintain resilience and progress in the years ahead.
