Prabowo and Megawati to Meet Soon After Eid

Independent Report – President Prabowo Subianto and Indonesia’s fifth President, Megawati Soekarnoputri, are set to meet soon. Gerindra’s Daily Chairman, Sufmi Dasco Ahmad, stated that he had discussed the planned meeting with Puan Maharani, Chairperson of the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP). According to Dasco, both parties agreed that the meeting should take place as soon as possible.

Meeting Between Prabowo and Megawati

“We both agreed that it should happen as soon as possible,” Dasco told reporters on Wednesday, April 2, 2025.

However, he declined to disclose the exact date of the meeting between Prabowo and Megawati. The Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives (DPR) urged everyone to wait for further updates.

“When exactly? Let’s wait and see. I have already had a brief discussion with Ms. Puan,” he said.

Puan Maharani confirmed the upcoming meeting between Prabowo and Megawati, stating that it would take place after Eid al-Fitr. She explained that since there would be no open house events this year, both leaders would be occupied with their respective agendas during the holiday period.

“It will happen as soon as possible. Since there is no open house, Mr. Prabowo will be busy, and Ms. Mega will also not be hosting one. So, after the Eid holiday, a meeting will certainly take place soon,” Puan remarked.

Meeting Scheduled After Eid al-Fitr

PDIP Chairman Ahmad Basarah also affirmed that the meeting between Megawati and Prabowo was just a matter of time. He responded to the visit of Prabowo’s son, Ragowo Hediprasetyo Djojohadikusumo, also known as Didit, who attended the Eid gathering at Megawati’s residence. According to him, this visit demonstrated the close relationship between Prabowo and Megawati.

“I believe it is a form of familial connection between Mr. Prabowo’s family and Ms. Mega’s family. Ms. Mega has repeatedly stated that her personal relationship with Mr. Prabowo has always been good, from the past until now. This was evident when Mr. Didit visited her home today,” Basarah explained at Megawati’s residence on Jalan Teuku Umar, Jakarta, on Monday, March 31, 2025.

The PDIP spokesperson also expressed his hope that the friendship and bond between the families of Megawati and Prabowo would continue to strengthen over time.

“Hopefully, the friendship and brotherhood between Mr. Prabowo’s family and Ms. Mega’s family will remain strong forever,” he concluded.
