Independent Report – PDI Perjuangan (PDIP) politician Guntur Romli has expressed full confidence in the legal victory of Secretary General Hasto Kristiyanto in court, provided there is no external political interference.
Guntur Romli made this statement while responding to journalists’ questions at the Jakarta Corruption Court (Tipikor) on Thursday, March 27, 2025.
He emphasized that this confidence is based on a thorough analysis of the legal evidence presented by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK).
“We are very confident of winning this legal process if we examine the available evidence. The evidence presented by KPK is weak and even shows signs of fabrication, involving 13 investigators and former investigators as witnesses,” Guntur stated.
He also pointed out that the prosecutors’ charges appeared to be mere repetitions without introducing any new substantial material. “This is clearly a procedural injustice. Legally, our position is very strong,” he added.
Guntur also read a special message from Hasto, urging all PDIP members to remain loyal and united under the leadership of Chairperson Megawati Soekarnoputri.
“Mas Hasto has asked us all to stay committed to protecting Ibu Megawati and maintaining the party’s structural unity. This is a crucial message that he has emphasized,” Guntur explained.
Despite the strong legal position, Guntur expressed concerns about potential political interference that could influence the court’s verdict.

“We are confident of victory if there is no external political intervention. However, if political factors come into play, we cannot guarantee the outcome. At this moment, we are relying solely on an independent legal process,” he stressed.
Outside the courtroom, hundreds of PDIP members continued to show their support by holding demonstrations and displaying banners. A vehicle equipped with speakers continuously played the song “Kader Militan,” a tune commonly associated with PDIP.
One of the banners displayed read, “Silenced by the Mulyono Regime, Hasto is a Political Prisoner.”
Meanwhile, inside the courtroom, dozens of young party members and PDIP politicians were already present, eagerly awaiting the hearing. The young supporters wore black T-shirts with special messages that read, “Reject Political Silencing Under the Pretext of Corruption, Hasto is a Political Prisoner.”
The Public Prosecutor at the Corruption Eradication Commission accused Hasto Kristiyanto, along with Donny Tri Istiqomah, Saeful Bahri, and Harun Masiku, of bribing Wahyu Setiawan.
With the legal battle unfolding, PDIP members remain steadfast in their belief that justice will prevail, as long as the judiciary operates independently and free from political pressure.
