Independent Report – The House of Representatives (DPR) Opens Possibility of Summoning Central Java Police over Sukatani Band Case and Alleged Infant Murder by an Officer
Member of Commission III of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI), Abdullah, has announced his intention to push for the summoning of several officials from the Central Java Regional Police (Polda Jateng) due to numerous controversial cases that have drawn public attention.
Among these cases is the issue involving the Sukatani band and the most recent allegation of an infant’s murder committed by a police officer from Central Java.
“A summons must be issued for the Chief of Central Java Police and his staff. We in Commission III want to understand why legal violations by police officers serving in Polda Jateng continue to occur.” Abdullah stated in a press release on Thursday (March 13, 2025).
The politician from the National Awakening Party (PKB) emphasized the need to examine the monitoring and evaluation (Monev) methods used to assess police performance in Central Java. He also noted that the Commission aims to determine the effectiveness of these evaluations.
“We want to understand how individual performance is monitored, how duties are carried out, the results of public satisfaction survey. As well as the internal and external oversight mechanisms in place to ensure professionalism and accountability within the Central Java Police,” Abdullah explained.

He added that these efforts are meant to strengthen the Central Java Police. “Through Commission III’s oversight function, we hope to bring the precision policing concept promoted by the National Police Chief, General Listyo Sigit Prabowo, closer to realization,” he said.
Furthermore, he reminded law enforcement agencies. Including the Central Java Police, of their responsibility to implement President Prabowo Subianto’s Asta Cita program.
“Specifically, Asta Cita number seven, which focuses on reforms in politics, law, and bureaucracy. The goal is to prevent and address actions that harm the public,” Abdullah concluded.
A police officer from Central Java is suspected of assaulting his two-month-old child, resulting in the infant’s death. The baby, who was his biological child, was allegedly strangled by the officer.
According to reports, the incident was reported to the Central Java Police by the child’s mother on March 5, 2025. The alleged perpetrator, identified as Brigadier AK, is a member of the Directorate of Intelligence and Security (Ditintelkam) of the Central Java Police.
“Yes, the incident did happen, and the suspect has been arrested and placed under special detention for 30 days for investigation purposes.” Stated the Head of Public Relations for Central Java Police, Commissioner Artanto, on Tuesday (March 11), as reported by Merdeka.com.
The case reportedly began on March 2, 2025, when Brigadier AK and his wife were about to go shopping. His wife entrusted the baby to him for care while she was away. However, upon returning from shopping, she found the child in an unusual condition.
“Seeing the baby’s abnormal condition, the mother immediately took the infant to the hospital. Unfortunately, despite receiving medical treatment, the baby was declared dead,” Artanto explained.
The authorities have already conducted an exhumation of the infant’s body on March 6, 2025. Meanwhile, the criminal investigation is being handled by the Directorate of General Crime Investigation (Ditreskrimum).
“The criminal case is still under investigation, and the suspect is currently undergoing examination,” Artanto concluded.
