Independent Report – U.S. singer Chris Brown has pleaded not guilty to charges related to a nightclub altercation in London, where he is accused of attacking a music producer with a bottle in 2023. The incident allegedly took place at the Tape nightclub, a popular venue in central London. Chris Brown appeared at Southwark Crown Court on Friday to formally deny the accusations against him.
The 36-year-old artist is facing charges of assault causing actual bodily harm and possession of an offensive weapon in a public place. These charges are considered less severe than the original allegation of attempting to inflict grievous bodily harm, which Brown also denied during a previous court appearance. Prosecutors described the incident as an “unprovoked attack” on the victim, Abraham Diaw.
Brown’s co-defendant, Omololu Akinlolu, 38, is also facing charges related to the same incident. He pleaded not guilty to causing actual bodily harm and had earlier denied the more serious charge of attempted grievous bodily harm. Both men maintain their innocence and have been granted bail while awaiting trial.

Brown was arrested in May 2025 at a hotel in Manchester after returning to the United Kingdom for the first time since the incident. He had previously left the country before formal charges could be filed. His return was part of his concert tour titled “Breezy Bowl XX,” and he was granted bail after posting a security fee of 5 million pounds, which amounts to approximately $6.7 million.
The upcoming trial is scheduled to begin on October 26, 2026, giving both the prosecution and defense time to prepare their cases. Legal experts expect the trial to draw widespread attention due to Brown’s celebrity status and the nature of the accusations.
